A requiem for common sense
You work hard for your money
You can slave for some gold
Build a tomb from a palace
With mud make a home
You can soar on the wings of fame
So high in the sky
You can laugh and say witty things
You can shine in the light
You can walk amongst willows
Thru the oak and the ash
Here poppies fill meadows
Talk with ghost's from your past
You can look on in wonder at
This merry dance we lead
You can stand up for what you believe in
And refuse to go down on bended knee
A requiem for common sense
A requiem for common sense
Our lives are precious, so precious
Hard times may break us, yet makes us
We have to open up our arms
And let the whole world in
One life, one chance, one hope
But we must forgive
What coward has a conscience
What man stays his hand
Who believes all this nonsense
Would god make such a plan
Why don't we send a message out
Over the oceans, the land, skies and sea's
Don't we all want to live in peace and love
And have our children
Come home each day
Safely?
A requiem for common sense
A requiem for common sense
Our lives are precious, so precious
Hard times may break us, yet makes us
We have to open up our arms
And let the whole world in
One life, one chance, one hope
But we must forgive
Our lives are precious, so precious
Hard times may break us, yet makes us
We have to open up our arms
And let the whole world in
One life, one chance, one hope
But we must forgive
A requiem for common sense
